Widening the Dublin Ring Road

The steady increase in traffic in and around the metropolitan area of Dublin, the Irish capital, made adjustments to its transportation infrastructure necessary. One of the more significant expansion measures has been the widening of the 45km M50 Dublin Ring Road from 2 x 2 to 3 x 3 lanes. Construction began at the end of 2007 and is scheduled to end in 2010.

DELTA BLOC® Ensures Safety

DELTA BLOC® provides the DB 65S safety barrier to secure most of the work areas along the construction project around Dublin. The narrow element DB 65S, which has been successfully used throughout Europe, persuades from many different angles:

  • With a system width of only 39cm, the DB 65S grants the security of the most narrow construction sites.
  • With a T3 restraint level, it has a working width of a mere W2.
  • The DB 65S has also been tested at restraint level H1. Thus it can also be flexibly used to meet higher demands for safety.
  • The patented coupling system allows for brisk assembly.

Competitors are Left Behind

Because of its network of production partners, DELTA BLOC® can ensure flexible production in the location's immediate vicinity. the Irish Traffic Management company TMS was thus able to minimize transportation costs from the production site to the installation site.

DB 65S: Securing Construction Sites around Dublin

In the international context, this leads to added value for the country in which production is situated. Given that production takes place near the installation site, value is created domestically.

Because production was located near the installation site, transportation distances could also be shortened. Thus DELTA BLOC® is also making a contribution to CO2-emission reduction.
